Snow White and the Huntsman

Acting: 7
This movie didn't require too much acting from Kristen Stewart, but her inspirational speech was enough to motivate me to fight against the queen. The acting was definitely highlighted be performances from Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. Charlize Theron was perfect as she was both terrifyingly power hungry and at pitiful at the same time. Chris Hemsworth is slowly becoming one of the better action stars as he delivers a strong and charming performance as the huntsman.
Plot: 8
A great job to the writers for taking a classic fairytale and making it unique without completely abandoning the original story. There are parts of this movie that everyone who loves Snow White can identify while still bringing a more dark, more real spin on the familiar story that we all know.
Plot Development: 7
Overall I was never bored and never felt like the story was dragging, but there were definitely parts that seemed out of place or unnecessary while in traveling through the forest. As a whole though the movie progressed at a good pace and kept my eyes glued to the screen the whole time.
Cinematography: 9
Great special effects and film editing that brought excitement to all the scenes, especially the action ones. Very visually pleasing and terrifying takes on the dark forest and the dark magic of the queen
Dialogue: 6
Not as much cheesy dialogue as I expected from a fairy tale movie and the writer for the huntsman did a very good job and Chris Hemsworth fit it perfectly. There were definitely some scenes that I felt were not up to the best standard of dialogue as they tried to force too many fantastical things into the script, but overall the dialogue was well done.

Overall Score: 7.4

Recommendation: Absolutely see it if you get a chance, its a new twist on a classic fairy tale that will keep you entertained until the very end.

Chernobyl Diaries

Acting: 5
Scary movies have never been known for their quality acting and Chernobyl Diaries is no different. I give it a 5 only because the actors and actresses did a great job looking scared, and Yuri was quite entertaining to watch, but overall the acting was average at best
Plot: 7
I thought the story and plot was pretty good, it did a good job setting up the creepy abandoned town and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for something to pop out from every corner. The plot and background story was a good horror movie setup
Plot Development: 2
This is where the movie really struggled. Although there was a lot of tension and build-up nothing happened as grandly as the set-up made it feel like it would. There was not enough action for the amount of tension the story puts you through and as the movie drags on to the end you feel like not enough happened and the things that did happen make little sense.
Cinematography: 6
I love handheld camera scary movies so they definitely made the right choice in picking that, overall the camera angles and film editing was good and always kept you on the edge of your seat waiting for something bad to happen
Dialogue: 4
Its hard to give any horror movie above a 5 in dialogue because they are not built to excel in writing. Some of the dialogue from the main characters was ridiculous as usual but they redeemed themselves a little with Yuri who was funny and frightening at times

Overall Score:  4.8

Recommendation: If you love scary movies then go see it will entertain you, but if you are looking for a high quality scary movie or a good movie to watch on the weekend, this movie isn't your best bet.

Welcome

Welcome to T.I.T.A.R (Trust in Taher and Ron), a new movie review and update blog that keeps you updated with the best upcoming movies and gives you our take on what movies that we recommend and don't recommend. This blog was founded on the premise that me, Taher, and my friend Ron go to a lot of movie screenings and have always wanted to share our take on each movie (and also sit in the press seats), so we have developed a system to rate the movies we see. It is a 1-10 scale system with 5 different categories, which are: Acting, Plot, Plot Development (Flow), Cinematography, and Dialogue. Each movie we see, we will give a rating and either recommend it or not. We hope this will serve as a tool to help guide you in your movie choices and save you money by steering you away from bad movies.
